Week 8 at the Techstars Accelerator Program
So here we are already on Week 8! 😱
Let’s get straight to it. In this update, we’ll be sharing exactly what went down in terms of business, venture round, and of course what we did for fun. :)
Business first
We set out on a trip to Washington, DC this week and had a successful meeting with one of the businesses we’ve been talking with. Although we didn’t spend much time touring around the city, we did present our industrial setup model and our iOS app — and things went really well. :)
Recently we’ve learned that there’s a law out there that usually causes demos to not work, especially on the first try. But we really crushed it this time around. Maybe it was because we felt the tech gods were with us (Kamil and our Prague team)!
As for our other leads with our pilot project, they’re moving quite nicely to further stages of negotiation.
It’s really opening the doors to other business verticals and industries to help us find an ideal use case to test our solution in the real world.
One of our pilots involves using the batch protection approach to protect apparel goods, so the team will be pretty busy training the algorithm to determine what’s authentic and what’s fake.
Investors
We’ve just closed the first round of Mentor and FFF — and we’re grateful for the amount of interest we’re getting!
This was the first week without Kamil and it’s definitely been a challenge to demo our product without his knowledge. But rest assured that he taught us well and so far we didn’t have any problems! 🙏
We’ve had about 12 meetings with VCs this week and it’s starting to feel like we’re living in a simulation. It’s hard to distinguish between days and months are passing by like weeks.
Fun stuff
During the week we had a full-on Czech family-style dinner.
And as you can see, it was fantastic.
We got to share some of our traditional Czech food like bramboraky, gulas, rizky and potato salad — which people seemed to enjoy for the most part!
Aside from that, Dominik and Jan spent the weekend exploring the city and shopping around with Roman. Roman even took us out to a sauna and for beers at a cozy pub right under our offices in the Flatiron district.
On Saturday though, Vekrum’s from Alchemist hosted an engagement party for Annie and Jakub at his place — it was a lovely night. Thank you for that guys and for all the other teams that joined, we’re looking forward to what our next week will bring!
“Veracity Protocol brings a new authenticity standard of fingerprinting physical objects to combat counterfeits. Thanks to computer vision and machine learning, we identify unique material characteristics and use them for future protection, verification and visual inspection. Unlike tags, chips or markers that need to be embedded and can be removed or tampered with, our solution works with items’ surfaces even when damaged and is still 100% tamper-proof.”
