Week 7 at the Techstars Accelerator Program
Whoa, we’re already on week seven. Was it a lucky seven? Oh yeah. As usual, a lot has happened in this constant whirlwind experience — and we’re ready to share our juicy behind-the-scenes highlights of the week with you.
The business stuff
We’ve spent a good chunk of our time this week meeting with a bunch of VCs. You see, we’re constantly polishing our pitch and crafting our communication skills to keep leveling up our entire game from the inside out.
And to be honest, we’re feeling pretty good about it.
Now we’re getting ourselves ready for a very important business meeting on Monday. So this means we’re rehearsing our demo and testing our apps like mad for this meeting. We’re also fine-tuning our speech and presentation while also anticipating potential questions that may come up– you know, all that presentation anxiety stuff that you normally prepare for and panic over.
Our Masterclass for this week was by Troy Henikoff on how to build a financial model — a crucial resource when it comes to talking to VCs. What did we take away from it? Basically that any model’s first version is always wrong. This left a strong impression on us as it was relatable to what we’ve been going through with our evolution so far.
As for the Accelerator holiday on Friday, Roman, Jakub, and Kamil still kept themselves busy with back-to-back meetings. This is basically our new life. :’)
People in, people out
One of the major things that went on this week is that we’ve had a lot of movement. For one, Roman’s wife, Gabina, left us on Sunday as well with Kamil. For a proper goodbye, we decided to have a nice brunch at the nearby Four Star Diner — which of course Roman wasn’t a fan of but hey, we still liked it and had a great time. We’ll definitely miss having both of them around.
But as people left, new people joined in. Honza, our head of product, arrived on Sunday afternoon, jetlagged and all. And on Monday, we’re expecting Dominik, our head of mobile dev.
We’re excited.
Fun stuff
Of course, we need some down time too. We had a cozy family dinner on Wednesday with Paperchain, where we ate delicious homemade lasagna and some kangaroo meat (yes, it was great, we promise). Then Kamil and Albert went to see a hockey game together with Daniel from Paperchain.
And last but not least, we had a special happening on Saturday. Jakub proposed to his girlfriend and well — she said yes! A major heartfelt moment right there and we’re glad to be a part of it. :’)
Next week shenanigans
On Monday, Apple is having a keynote and of course we’ll be there to soak up all that matters. But you know that’s a lot less important compared to our upcoming meeting in Washington (that will probably be the highlight of the week).
And just to make sure we’re not losing too much of our Czech roots by being in the states here for so long, we’re actually hosting a Czech-themed dinner on Wednesday. We’ll see how that turns out!
“Veracity Protocol brings a new authenticity standard of fingerprinting physical objects to combat counterfeits. Thanks to computer vision and machine learning, we identify unique material characteristics and use them for future protection, verification and visual inspection. Unlike tags, chips or markers that need to be embedded and can be removed or tampered with, our solution works with items’ surfaces even when damaged and is still 100% tamper-proof.”
